1. When performing card magic its always best to use a red back deck of cards. Using red back deck of cards catches the attention of the audiences eyes because of the bright colour and makes the magic more exciting. (I suggest Bicycle® Brand playing cards.
2. Mostly in magic sometimes the cards may be to big for a certain trick, for example the One Handed Shuffle. In this case Bridge size cards would be the best.
3. Using cards can be tricky for begginers and professionals alike. So what you should do in this situation is practice in a mirror to see if the magic looks flaude. Perfect it! no spectator likes a screw up. You should also pratice infront of a mirror with all sorts of magic, like coin, gimmicks, miscellaneous, and all other magic.
On Stage or the Street
1. If on the street never say to a person "have you got a minute" because that is the same expression a salesman would use and the spectator would ignore you, or walk away. Say something like "can i show you something" or something more convincing.
2. If your asked stupid questions by your audience like "can you make my baby dissapear", Always answer back with a funny or smart answer. If asked that question reply "ohhh, sorry, too late, your baby already came to me to make you dissapear". Heres another one, if asked "how long have you been doing magic" you could give him the truth or say "about 40 minutes now". Here comes another one, if asked "how did you do that!" say "can you keep a secret, so can I".
3. Its always good to make people laugh on stage or even on the street. It will ad taste to the magic and will have people wanting more. Don't try to make them laugh by screwing up, work out a routine to get a good chuckle out of them.
Working with gimmicks
1. Most people say (and i myself believe its true) that a magician with gimmicks is not a real magician. A magician is known to have allot of talent inside
of them. That talent shouldn't come from specialy altered decks and coins.
2. When working with gimmicked decks you should make sure that all the trick decks should look the same. Bicycle® brand playing cards make many many different gimmicks with the rider back style deck. You should aim for those as they are a quality deck of cards also.
3. How the gimmicks are made should always be cleverly concealed.
